California Water Environment Association (CWEA) is the state’s premier professional organization whose mission is to empower, educate, and connect the state’s water professionals to protect public health and the environment. CWEA has a membership of over 10,000 wastewater professionals and provides resources to its members at the state and the local levels. With 17 local sections, there is opportunity for members to gain a significant amount of knowledge through networking, education, training, and certification.

SVCW participates with CWEA on every level. Currently, our own Engineering/Environmental Services Director serves as the CWEA President. This is a high profile and demanding position and our Director is performing it phenomenally! Many of our staff currently hold or in the past have held Board-level positions at the Santa Clara Valley Local Section of CWEA (SVCW is located within this section’s boundary). Currently the local section’s President position is filled with SVCW’s own Senior Mechanic.

CWEA recognizes excellence in the work that its individual and agency members make to the industry through its annual awards program. This year, SVCW is honored to have three people and two projects recognized by the SCV Section as winners. They are:

  • Operator of the Year Award: Senior Operator, Robert Ishaya
  • Mechanical Technologist of the Year Award: Senior Mechanic, Brian Bruemmer
  • Laboratory Person of the Year Award: Senior Laboratory Analyst, Tiffany Ishaya
  • Engineering Achievement of the Year Award: Plantwide Energy Management Program
  • Research Achievement of the Year Award: SAF-MBR Demonstration Project

SVCW wants to acknowledge and congratulate all the winners of the SCVS awards! They will move onto the state level to compete against the other 17 local section winners for CWEA state awards. We wish them good luck!
